Deep wine, golden arches, and a pallu woven like a palace floor.
This handwoven pure cotton khadi jamdani saree has a rich aubergine body with a wide open border in golden ochre. Rows of semicircular chandmari motifs, fan-like half-moons with leaf-petal rays, run down both borders. The pallu carries a dense diamond lattice in antique gold, framed by matching chandmari arches at the top and bottom. Small leaf butis are scattered across the body. The look is dark, regal and rich without being heavy.
Why you’ll love it
- Soft and body-hugging: The hand-spun khadi cotton is breathable and light, and it falls in natural folds that cling gracefully. It softens further with every wash.
- True jamdani technique: The motifs are woven into the fabric on the loom with extra-weft thread, not printed or embroidered, so each saree is slightly unique.
- Chandmari open border: A broad golden-ochre border with a repeating semicircular chandmari design, set against a maroon-brown inner edge for depth.
- Statement pallu: A dense diamond-and-key geometric jaal in antique gold on aubergine, framed above and below by chandmari arch bands and fine pin-stripes.
- Blouse piece included: Comes with an unstitched blouse piece, so you can stitch it in the style you prefer.
- Hand-knotted net tassels: The pallu ends in a jali-style knotted fringe in magenta-pink, with golden tassels at the corners.
Perfect for: Weddings, pujas, festive evenings, formal occasions, gifting, and anyone who prefers a dark, heritage handloom look.
Styling tip: Stitch the included blouse piece in gold, mustard or a matching aubergine. For a bolder look, try a magenta-pink blouse to echo the tassels. Antique gold or temple jewellery suits the colour scheme well.
